Scott's 4 yr check-up

Scott continues to be square.... He has always (well, for a while anyway) measured the same in width and height. He is 42.5 inches tall and 42 lbs which puts him in the 90th percentile for weight and height. Poor little man had to get 4 shots and a finger stick today but he was so very brave and I was so proud of him!

Since I was writing this, I thought I would write a few of the things Scott has said lately.

• He says "mine" instead of "my." ex: "Are we going to mine house?"

• At dinner he asked Poppi (who is a little bald on top) "Poppi, why are your brains coming out of your head?" and the followed up by asking Poppi about the freckles on his head in this way: "Poppi, why do you have ant bites on your brains?" Poppi was such a good sport about it and laughed along with the rest of us! :)

• He loves, loves cement trucks and dump trucks and wants to drive a dump truck when he grows up.

• He loves to cut grass and is determined that Mr. Charles (who cuts our yard) is his father because Scott (in his words) "is a grass-cutter and so is Mr. Charles. That's why." (Mr. Charles lets Scott ride on his tractor while cutting our yard and so Scott LOVES him!)

• He follows up just about everything with "that's why".... even if it needs no explanation.

• He is obsessed with washing machines. He gets so excited when we wash clothes!!! Seriously.

• He calls Brooke "Bwookie" and it's so cute! He is certainly picking up a country accent. He calls Baywood "Baywowood" and down is "dayuwn." His favorite color is blue and he pronounces yellow as "lellow." He's a mommy's boy and all rough and tumble. The faster, the better! He's a dare-devil and he melts my heart. :)

• We had a wonderful vacation in Arkansas! Thanks Mimi and Poppi for such a great time. We stayed so busy doing so many extra-fun things!!! I put a few pics up, but they don't begin to capture all of the adventures that we had. We went bowling, horseback riding, toured the Mountain Valley Spring Water plant, went to the children's museum, the water park, the "rock" store, took a boat ride on the lake, ate a fabulous restaurants and I could go on and on! Tyler was able to visit Heber Springs and he took us along for the ride. He spent a lot of time there while growing up. His Mimi lived in Heber Springs and he has so many fond memories of that place. The lake is absolutely beautiful!!! While there, we visited with Sue and Gene....2 special friends who showed us a wonderful time as well. Thanks to all of you!!! We love you!

i took the kiddos back to the dr for their "re-check" and they are all better! i am so thankful for that, especially since we are headed to mimi and poppi's house on saturday. the kids are so excited and can't wait for all of the fun adventures that they will have in arkansas! can't wait to see you mimi and poppi!!! :)

our bathroom is still in the process of being re-done. i'll be glad when it is completed! other than that, there is just not much else to say. oh....brooke did lose one of her top teeth the other night. so, she has 3 teeth missing at the current time. i love this stage! it's just so cute.... i'll get a picture of her soon and post it so you can see miss snaggletooth.

emmie's dress

my mom (gramma) made this dress and bonnet for emmie. you can't see it in the pictures, but there are little pearls smocked into the dress and bonnet. i just think it's gorgeous and had to brag on mom a little! of course, sweet emmie makes it all the more beautiful! :)

well, we have been doing some remodeling lately and i thought i would share a few photos with you. the pics of the house with the plastic wrap everywhere were taken a few months ago and those rooms are now back to normal. i'm not sure how long it has been since we started this whole process, but we are almost done!!! the only thing being remodeled now is the bathroom. everything is finished except for the bathroom and it should be completed next week. YIPPEE!!!!!!

uncle michael just sent me a few new pics, so i thought i would update my blog with them! mere is doing well. she came home today, so i'm sure they are settling into their new routine. thanks for all of the messages, prayers and well-wishes! what a blessing little emmie is!!! :)

more on emmie...

my parents said that emmie looked just like lainie....and i believe they are right! she looks like lainie's clone. she does have more hair than lainie, but that's about the only difference that i can see. mere had a rough day yesterday. she was very nauseated from the spinal anesthesia and could not even stand up without getting sick. so....lainie did not go to the hospital yesterday. hopefully she will be able to meet emmie today. i sure hope that mere feels better soon! tyler said that it typically takes about 24 hrs for the medication in the spinal to lose its effects and so hopefully mere is back on the mend. i can't imagine the pain of "getting sick" after abdominal surgery. ugh!!! anyway.....enough of my rambling on! :) i'll update more when i know more.

Emerson Caroline is here!

Meredith actually went into labor on her own yesterday evening. She had a c-section last night/ early this morning and Emmie arrived at 12:21 AM. She weighs 9 lbs 4.75 oz and is 21 inches long. She looks just like Lainie according to Grampi and Gramma. Meredith is doing well and so is Emmie. Yea!!! :) I'll post pics when I get some.....

communion

we had communion at church today and our kids were able to partake during the children's sermon. the kids all went up to the front and were taught about communion and what it means....in simple terms. then each child received a piece of bread broken from the loaf and were instructed to dip it into the cup and then eat it. brooke did perfectly, even saying "thank you, Jesus" after receiving her bread. scott.....took his bread, dipped it into the cup and then was told to eat it. his eyes opened wide....and he quickly shook his head, said "ewww" and then deposited his piece of bread into the community cup of grape juice. NICE.....

gene left on july 4th to serve in afghanistan for 15 months. jen, gene, ava and logan... you know i love you guys and will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. just as a background note for everyone...gene was tyler's preceptor when tyler was still at samford. tyler was able to go to hawaii for half of a summer during ROTC and gene is who they paired tyler with at tripler army medical center. then, when we moved to hawaii....i met jen and lo and behold, she was newly- married to gene.....who tyler had followed about 5-6 years earlier! it's a small world. anyway, just wanted to thank gene and my tyler and all of the men/women, spouses and families who sacrifice to serve our country. praying for a safe return for you, gene! jen.....can't wait for you to come and visit!!!!!!!!! :)

we hope that you all had a wonderful 4th! ours was filled with lots of fun. we went and picked up our new golf cart yesterday morning. tyler has been wanting a faster one and found this one and....here we are! it goes 25 mph and has radio/CD player with 4 speakers (seriously! 4 speakers for a golf cart???). i love the fact that it has the back seat with a seatbelt!!! plus, the backseat folds into a nice storage area for all of our "stuff" for the pool. tyler came home and raced with a friend of his who has a "fast" golfcart. boys will be boys!!!!! anyway, enough about the golf cart! we were able to go to a few parties yesterday, eat some wonderful food and celebrate how blessed we are to live in this amazing country! i thank God often that he blessed me with such a fabulous family and such a wonderful place to live. :)

praying at wal-mart

so, we were at wal-mart last evening. i was not brave enough to tackle my "big shopping" alone, so i had tyler with me. he gets a cart and he and the kids fill it with "junk" and i have a cart for the things we really need! :) anyway, scott was walking right behind me and i heard him cough and then say, "dear God, thank you for mine friends. please make mine cough stop and please come into mine heart." he had his hands all folded and head bowed and eyes closed in the middle of the aisle at wal-mart.....just praying away! it was the cutest thing. he has been asking about Jesus coming into his heart a lot lately and i have been talking to him about it. now....how much does he understand? i'm not sure, but like with brooke.....Jesus knows his little boy's heart! i wonder how many kiddos have asked Jesus to come into their heart while shopping at wal-mart??? LOL! :) i'm sure God was smiling....

if i could just learn to have the faith of a child....

sickness!

i took brooke to the doctor today for a speech therapy referral and scott tagged along. when i was checking brooke in a the front desk, scott coughed. (yes...they have had a yucky cough for about a week, but my kiddos have pretty bad allergies and so i just figured they were having another "episode" and would get better soon. i did have to give scott one breathing treatment the other day, but he has seemed fine since.) so, the receptionist asked if he was coming in for a cough. i proceeded to tell her that the appt was not for him, but for brooke. she said sweetly, "why don't i pull his chart and they can see him as well." i agreed.....why not kill 2 birds with one stone? so, we get called back and both of the kids are hacking. brooke's speech referral was the LAST thing on the dr's mind! she listened to them and long story short, both kiddos are on breathing treatments every 4 hours, antibiotics for the cough (and scott has an ear infection) and oral steroids as well. GOOD GRIEF! i had no idea that they were that bad!!! so, we left today with a lot more than i had planned.....and yes, we got the speech referral! ha ha!!! really, i was going to take them in and would have made an appt if brooke had not already had one scheduled today. :) we have to go back on the 14th for a follow-up. let's hope they are on the mend by then......
