brooke with her character medal
we are so blessed by the gift of our sweet brookie! she has done so well this past year and we are very proud of her. she received quite a few awards at "awards day" and i am going to try and highlight some of them. i think the "best" one was the character medal. she received the character medal for her class. it is only given to 2 kids in each class and brooke was one of them. what an honor! :) she also received the best handwriting award for her class, the most creative dance moves, and the drama award! she won the drama award last year....i think she is going to be our "artsy" girl. we have always thought that and i don't think she will prove us wrong. :) we took a few photos and i wanted to share them with you.....hope you enjoy them!

memorial day...glory days

daddy and his kiddos
db's flag (above)
tyler's flag (he did not sponsor himself...but his name got put on there somehow!) :)
between db's flag and tyler's flag

glory days is an amazing display of the patriotism that is felt here in fayetteville. each may, hundreds of flags are dedicated to individuals who have served and/or are serving our country. it is a humbling and breathtaking experience to stand amidst the flags. each flag has a tag attached to it and each represents a story, a life, a family... i will always hold a special place in my heart for our soldiers! :)
tyler and i were honored to dedicate a flag to db jameson, jr. he was an original blue angel pilot. i was not able to meet him in person, but he was a friend to my dad and was a huge contributor to "tyler's kids." he passed away this past year, but he touched many lives and was a wonderful christian man.
brooke, scott and i were very excited to dedicate a flag to tyler/daddy! we are especially proud of him and his service to our country. a sincere thank you to all of you who serve and who keep our country safe. it is something i appreciate more than words could ever express....what a blessing each and every one of you are! happy memorial day and again....thank you!

under construction

scott singing away

sleepy scott and lucas above...
scott's hat is a little too big for his head...amazing considering the size of his head! :)

scott had his end-of-the-year musical this evening. he was so cute up there smiling and giving us the "thumbs up!" we know that he loved standing next to emma (his girlfriend). the theme of the musical was "kids under construction." they sang "He's still working on me, to make me what i ought to be..." i loved it! how true that song is! scott has been walking around the house singing it. tonight he came up to me and said, "God is the glue that holds us together." made me smile :)! and he sang that song tonight as well. it's so wonderful to see the innocence and love of these precious blessings. oh...to have the faith of these sweet children.
i remember when brooke started at village and scott was only 8 months old. it's so hard to believe that this is his last year of pre-school. he has done so well and i am so proud of him! oh...and if you look closely, you will notice scott's boo-boos on his face. he fell on saturday and scratched up his face pretty badly. then this afternoon he fell and busted his upper lip. he's looking like a boy for sure!!! :)

american dancer

brookie in her ballet costume

brooke had her dance recital this past weekend. the theme for the recital was "american dancer." saturday and sunday were busy, busy and she had a great time! she was so sad that dance was over for the year. she is already asking when she can start back to dance! this year she took ballet, tap and jazz. brookie did really well. we were so proud of her! she certainly doesn't get her dance moves from me....she can thank her daddy for that. and i mean that in a good way. :) we love you brookie and think that you are such a wonderful blessing from God!!!

camp lejeune

Posted by Picasa
we love, love the beach! tyler was looking at different military bases with beach access and came across camp lejeune. it is a beautiful marine corps base in jacksonville, nc. there are houses that military personnel and their families are able to rent on onslow beach at camp lejeune. we went there last october and felt the need to visit again now that the weather is getting warmer. so, off we went! we had a fabulous time!!! there were so many pics (and i mean SO MANY) that i made a collage of just of a few of my favorites. click on the collage to enlarge it.
while we were there we ate at texas roadhouse. we never go there when we are at home, but it is our special treat to eat there in jacksonville! another fun thing to do is to catch sand crabs. and there are plenty to catch on onslow beach! we caught one that was so big that he would barely fit in the kids' net. honestly, he scared me! he could have pinched off a toe easily. we had fun catching and releasing the crabs. brooke and i especially enjoyed the releasing part! :) brooke and scott were able to boogeyboard. you may notice the photo of scott in the collage that makes him appear to be walking on his hands in the ocean....he took a nose-dive and was fine, thank goodness. and he says that was his favorite part of the trip. go figure. with scott, the more dangerous, the better. brooke enjoyed collecting pretty shells and rocks, which came in handy at school as she is studying rocks in science class. :) anyway, i could write forever! we had a fabulous time!!!
before i end this, let me say that i did have a wonderful mother's day! tyler and the kids let me sleep in and tyler made a precious scrapbook of the kiddos for me. he and the kids made my day extra-special. and my mom also made it special with her love! i am so blessed!
